Nepal government has released the new political and administrative map of Nepal including Limpiyadhura, Lipu Lekh, and Kalapani. The new map has added 335 sq km of land in Nepal.
By adding the disputed land that is currently occupied by India, the total area of Nepal has increased from 147,181 sq km to 147,516 sq km
Padma Kumari Aryal, the minister for Land Reforms and Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, unveiled the map in Singha Durbar on Wednesday.
The new map showing Kalapani, Limpiyadhura, and Lipulekh as Nepali territories were approved by the Cabinet on Monday. The territories have been shown in Byas Rural Municipality in Darchula district of Sudurpaschim Province.
The map of a country is prepared in two different ways – the administrative map and boundary map.
Kalapani region extends over an area of 60 sq km. The territory including Limpiyadhura covers 335 sq km. Now all together of 395 sq km of land has been incorporated in Nepal’s map which has been encroached by India for a long time.
